How our business has had to adapt during the Coronavirus pandemic

2020 has been a year full of change for many businesses around the world. It’s brought financial and operational strain and plenty of uncertainty too. However, a time of change can bring with it innovation, forcing companies to adapt their way of working and become more flexible.
We spoke to our Chief Executive, Grant Barton to discover how the business has changed this year and how we’ve had to adapt during the coronavirus pandemic.
Firstly, tell us about your role here at S2S
I’m the CEO here and I’m responsible for the main growth strategy and the operations at the S2S group.
How has business changed during the pandemic?
There’s been a lot of changes, as with all businesses, during the pandemic but the most obvious one is the fact that people can no longer have as much contact as they used to. Face to face meetings or tours of our facilities are a thing of the past, or at least on hold for now. We’ve had to be much more flexible in our approach to communications and adapt at a speed which helps our customers too.
What have you done to adapt?
From day one we’ve tried to stay one step ahead of the curve. We’ve changed our processes and made the most of digital technologies. We’ve put in place paperless documentation, virtual tours and upped our digital marketing too. Another thing we’ve done is introduced contactless deliveries and collections so we can keep our clients and staff safe at all times. We’ve actually invested in a new IT Sanitisation service too which we can either do on site or we can pick up the IT devices from our customers, sanitise, then redistribute them to their remote workers’ homes.
How can other businesses learn from this experience and evolve?
My advice to other business is, set goals, work with your team and have a clear vision of what you’re trying to achieve. Make sure you’re communicating really well with your customers because things are changing all the time. Use this time to take a step back and look at the bigger picture when creating your business strategy. Also, make the most of digital technology and redistribute your marketing spend online.
