Following the success of E-waste day last year, S2S is getting involved again in 2020, to help educate the wider public on how we can all help to tackle the issues with electronic waste.

Why is International E-waste Day important?

Starting in 2018, E-waste day seeks to help tackle the growing issues attached to electronic waste around the world. Each year The WEEE Forum works with businesses, schools, and communities to inform them of the effect E-waste is having on the environment.

Last year, S2S got involved spreading the #ewasteday message and continuing to offer our services with a zero-to-landfill policy we uphold in all of our operations. This year, however, we want to offer more to the scheme and have expanded our efforts to help provide resources and information to businesses and the public on how they can help us to tackle the global E-waste issue.

Our plans to #remembertorecycle

Due to the pandemic limiting the types of activities people can get involved in with E-waste day, S2S has decided to go digital. Following the WEEE Forum’s theme of education for 2020’s event, we will be creating informative content under the hashtag #remembertorecycle.

In 2019, only 17% of E-waste was sustainably recycled.

With only 17% of electronic waste sustainably recycled in 2019, we believe it is more important than ever to encourage our customers, followers, and community to think more about what happens to their redundant IT. The hashtag will serve as S2S’s hub to post content for the event and spread the message on the issues of E-waste and what can be done to help.
