S2S Group achieve new, updated ADISA certification

Further establishing itself as one of the UK’s most trusted ITAD service providers

To maintain its position as one of the UK’s most trusted ITAD service providers, S2S Group are committed to holding all relevant certifications in their latest iterations.

As the sophistication of the threats to business data evolves, so must the steps that S2S Group take to ensure it’s security. With this in mind, S2S Group are pleased to announce certification to the updated ADISA Standard 8.0 to DIAL 3.

What is the ADISA Standard 8.0?

ADISA Standard 8.0 is a certification framework developed by the Asset Disposal & Information Security Alliance (ADISA) for companies involved in IT asset recovery, particularly focusing on data sanitisation services. This standard ensures that organisations handling the disposal or repurposing of IT hardware, such as hard drives, comply with stringent data protection requirements, particularly under UK GDPR.

What is included in the ADISA Standard 8.0?

UK GDPR Compliance: The standard is approved by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a GDPR certification scheme. This approval confirms that certified companies meet GDPR’s data protection requirements, providing assurance to clients that their data will be handled securely during the asset recovery process.

Data Impact Assurance Levels (DIAL): A notable addition in version 8.0 is the introduction of DIAL. This system allows organisations to assess and categorise their own risk levels associated with data breaches based on factors like the nature and volume of data, threat levels, and the organisation’s risk appetite. The DIAL rating helps tailor the security measures required during data sanitisation and disposal. DIAL also tailors the transportation/collection side of the process too.

Certification Scope: The standard applies to processors and sub-processors providing data sanitisation services. It covers the secure removal of information from IT assets, ensuring they can be disposed of or reused without risk of data breaches

Why does ADISA Standard 8.0 to DIAL 3 matter?

ADISA DIAL 3 stands out from other certificates due to its specific focus on data security and compliance, particularly in the context of IT asset disposal. By choosing a certified DIAL 3 facility customers can be assured their assets are collected, processed and sanitised to the highest standards of data security and regulatory compliance.

What does the updated Standard 8.0 mean for data security?

S2S Group’s Compliance Officer, Keeley Lambert explains that the new updated standard has been introduced, ‘Because there have been some changes in the data sanitisation world, whereby certain rules and programmes that were being used were not fully making the data illegible so could still be rebuilt by the human eye. So, the standard specifies specific programmes and fall backs to ensure complete sanitisation.”

S2S Group COO, Rachel Hall explains the importance of the new certification

“I am incredibly proud to announce that our company have successfully passed the recent Data Capability Audit conducted by ADISA to their stringent 8.0 Standard maintaining our DIAL 3 with distinction. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment of our entire compliance team and all our employees.

Their relentless efforts to uphold the highest standards of data security and compliance have not only met but exceeded expectations. I would like to thank them for their diligence and teamwork, which has been pivotal in securing this outstanding result. Together, we continue to set the benchmark for excellence in our industry.”
