S2S Group’s Sustainability Journey to Becoming Carbon Net Zero

Setting goals and implementing strategies to become carbon net zero.

Our Strategy

The UK is committed to reaching net zero by 2050. This means that the total greenhouse gas emissions would be equal to the emissions removed from the atmosphere, to limit global warming and resultant climate change.

S2S Group has made efforts to develop a strategy that is both practical and achievable, addressing the needs of the business in the present and future.

This strategy, shaped by the company’s IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) framework, was designed to encompass a wide range of critical aspects to promote success and encourage stakeholder engagement.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

The foundation of S2S Group’s strategy is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), specifically focusing on areas that are vital to the company’s mission and values.

S2S Group supports decent work conditions, ensuring the well-being of its workforce while contributing to sustainable economic growth.

S2S Group is actively taking steps to mitigate climate change and reduce its carbon footprint as part of its commitment to environmental stewardship.

    In 2026/27, we received 5/5 stars for Support the Goals, showcasing our efforts to adhere to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

    We also achieved EcoVadis Gold in April 2026 for the second year running, placing us in the top 5% of organisations worldwide for our commitment to sustainability.

    The following steps will be taken:
    • Measure and understand our carbon emissions.
    • Measure and understand carbon emissions for each process within the business so decisions can be made on repair, reuse and recycling based on an evidence-based approach.
    • Reduce our emissions in line with the UN Race to Zero and the 1.5°C limit and validate these with the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).
    • Foster an ethical culture of diversity, equality, and trust, meet ethical business standards, and handle our and our clients’ data with care.
    • Follow Effective and Responsible business conduct practices.
    • Engage with suppliers and stakeholders to support our journey and their business objectives
    • Create a circular business model based on our ethical sourcing of materials, elimination of materials we do not need to use, reduction of materials used and the re-use and recycling of other materials. This includes the promotion of reuse within the IT sector in which we work.
    • Create a culture of Nature Positivity within our business and among all stakeholders. This involves creating our own green spaces and supporting other Nature projects nationally and internationally. In addition, we will look at the risks to Nature with our activities and any ways to mitigate those identified risks.
    • Take a risk-based approach to Climate change and look at ways this could affect our business and any ways to mitigate these.

      • Our Commitment to the Circular Economy

      S2S Group are committed to the circular economy, which seeks to maintain the functionality as well as extend the utility of components and materials of products throughout their lifecycle. Reducing waste and maximising recycling rates in line with the waste minimisation hierarchy is at the heart of the operational aspects of the business.

      S2S Group reuse as many assets as possible (within the client’s data security constraints) and recycles the rest through a manual disassembly process that optimises recycling rates and reduces the need for a large processing plant. With the growing demand for new IT and smartphones, S2S Group’s leading-edge technology and expertise will ensure more products will be available for refurbishment and reuse.
