S2S Group partnered with a large-scale financial institution to manage the secure collection, refurbishment, and resale of their IT assets. This project highlights S2S Group’s commitment to delivering a compliant and sustainable IT lifecycle solution while generating additional revenue for the customer. 

  • IT Lifecycle Management: The customer primarily uses S2S Group for our IT asset collection, refurbishment, and resale services, ensuring secure and compliant disposal of outdated IT equipment. 
    • Secure Data Erasure: All data-bearing devices were wiped using Blancco’s certified data erasure software, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Certification of destruction was provided for added assurance. 
      • Sustainable Recycling: Assets deemed Beyond Economical Repair (BER) were securely destroyed, preventing end-of-life technology from ending up in landfills. 
      • Managing IT Asset Disposal for a Large-Scale Financial Institution


        The project began with S2S Group collecting 300 laptops from the financial institution’s premises. These devices were securely transported to our facility in Rotherham, where they underwent thorough evaluation. 

        • 80% (240 assets) were resold into the market after refurbishment, providing the customer with an additional revenue stream. 
          • 20% (60 assets) were deemed as Beyond Economical Repair (BER) and securely destroyed per compliance standards, with certification provided. 
          • To support transparency, the customer had live access to their assets’ status through the Trakk-IT portal, allowing them to track the progress of refurbishment and disposal. 

            Ensuring Security & Compliance 


            At the core of this operation was S2S Group’s commitment to secure and compliant processes

            • Two operatives attended the site, securely packed the assets into secure cages, and transported them to S2S Group’s facility. 
              • Upon arrival, assets were weighed and assessed by IT and warehouse teams for refurbishment or destruction. 
                • Devices suitable for resale were refurbished, data erased using Blancco software, and refreshed to function like new. 
                • BER assets were securely destroyed, with full certification of destruction provided to the customer. 


                  Implementation Timeline


                  Collection completed within 7 working days of the initial request. 

                  End-to-end process completed in 4 weeks, from collection to refurbishment and resale. 

                  Challenges & Resolutions


                  The primary challenge was managing customer expectations regarding asset depreciation. Through open discussions, S2S Group helped the customer understand market value fluctuations and the benefits of resale. 

                  Results & Impact


                  • 240 assets successfully resold, generating revenue for the customer.
                    • 60 assets securely destroyed, ensuring full compliance with data security and sustainability regulations.
                      • Customer aligned IT asset disposal with sustainability goals, reducing environmental impact and ensuring responsible e-waste management.
