S2S Group is One step closer to achieving SDG Goal

S2S Group is setting targets to tackle the goals that are the most relevant to the business. At S2S Group environmental responsibility is core to who we are as a business. As well as encouraging our customers to recycle their assets responsibly, we make sure that we are constantly improving our environmental and ethical practices too. Because of the longstanding commitment to the highest environmental and ethical standards, the UN Sustainability Goals matter greatly. The company is committed to setting ambitious targets and reporting on progress, in addition to educating, encouraging, and influencing both suppliers & customers to do the same.

After working closely with TBL (Triple Bottom Line) in an ‘Identify Workshop’, S2S Group was able to assess the 17 SDG goals and highlight the most relevant to the business.  After completion of this workshop, 3 goals were highlighted as the business ‘Priority Goals’. In essence, these are the goals that S2S Group feels that it can provide the most direct positive impact.

These goals are:

SDG 8: Commitment to decent work and economic growth

SDG 12: Commitment to responsible consumption and production

SDG 13: Commitment to tackle climate change.

Focusing on SDG Goal 8 – the commitment to decent work and economic growth, S2S Group continues to strive to provide the best workplace for its staff members and set a goal to be a Real Living Wage Employer by the end of 2022.

S2S Group is delighted to announce that we are an accredited Real Living Wage Employer, meaning all members of staff at S2S Group are earning a Real Living Wage.

What is Living Wage?

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earns a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to nearly 400,000 people and put over £2 billion extra into the pockets of low-paid workers.

What are the benefits to S2S Group’s members of staff?

S2S Group’s employees will now be earning a wage they can live on. Making a positive impact on their lives inside and outside of work, driving motivation, and leaving them with fewer money worries. Stats show that staff members earning the Real Living Wage have been happier which has led to higher levels of productivity and a better quality of life.
